2024

In 2024, Mappa Outdoor delivered an experience, Introduction to Geology and Outdoor Climbing, in partnership with The North Face and supported by Auscope. The sold-out event brought together climbers, outdoor enthusiasts, and curious newcomers for a unique experience blending technical climbing skills with an accessible exploration of earth sciences.

Led by professional guides and Auscope geoscientists, participants gained hands-on insights into the geological story of the gorge, learning how ancient forces shaped the landscapes they were climbing. Alongside this, expert climbing instruction provided a supportive entry point for those new to the sport, fostering confidence, safety, and connection to place.

For The North Face and Auscope, the event created an authentic platform to engage with community audiences, aligning brand values of exploration, education, and environmental stewardship. The day highlighted the potential of cross-disciplinary partnerships in building memorable outdoor experiences that resonate well beyond the event itself.

THE EXPERIENCE WAS SO FUN AND I HAD THE BEST TIME. THE GEOLOGIST WAS REALLY ENGAGING, SHE EXPLAINED HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF YEARS OF EARTH’S HISTORY MUCH BETTER THAN MY TEACHERS AT SCHOOL DID. I FELT LIKE THE INTEGRATION OF SCIENCE AND COMMUNITY WAS REALLY SPECIAL. he
